As our Research Project Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our research projects and serve as primary liaison between our team and our clients for multiple large-scale research and advisory projects at a given time. This position entails managing the development and execution of study designs, data collection and analysis, and managing relationships with organizational partners and third party vendors. Some of the projects you will be working on may include solving problems such as: improving the financial well-being of millions of Americans, increasing access to affordable housing for low-income families. The Research Project Manager is expected to bring sophisticated research and communication skills, subject matter expertise, ongoing curiosity, and a collaborative attitude. You will be reporting to our Chief Behavioral Scientist, who has a decade of applied Behavioral Science experience and has worked closely with Dan Ariely.
Your day to day:
Every day is different depending on the project and objectives, but you can expect to support and lead projects through:
- Client Discovery: Evaluate data, understand target metrics, differentiate between product knowledge, intuition, and assumption. Work with senior executives and internal stakeholders to map client research needs against deliverables for our team to complete.
- Research & Ideation: Gather and analyze scientific research. Generate solutions for client challenges based on scientific literature and through participating in team brainstorm and prototyping sessions.
- Experimentation: Support the design and building of both large and small scale randomized control experiments of rigorous quality.
- Communication: Cogently present research findings to senior executives in oral and written formats.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate, leverage and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and internal team.
- Organization: Plan, manage, and execute external and internal engagements independently from start to finish with limited supervision.
You should have:
- Degree with a focus on Behavioral Science, Psychology, Research Methods, Economics, Human-computer Interaction (HCI), or similar
- 3-6 years’ previous experience managing large-scale research and consulting projects
- Experience eliciting insights from design, behavioral, and/or market research to inform product or process decisions
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders, proactively solve problems and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills (listening, negotiating, writing and presenting)
- 2-5 years experience with quantitative research techniques such as
- Statistical analysis tools such as R, Python, or SQL
- Survey and experimental design with tools such as Qualtrics or Usertesting.com
- Qualitative research methods: 1:1 interviews, observational research etc.
- Experience with the following, a plus, but not required:
- Applying Behavioral Science in a marketing context is a big plus
- Working in cross-functional teams
